Llyn Llech Owain Country Park covers an area of 64 hectares, managed by Carmarthenshire County Council.
The Country Park’s central feature is the lake itself, which is surrounded by peat bog. The park consists largely of coniferous woodland with areas of dry heath and broad leaved woodland.
The lake itself is to acidic for wildfowl but Dragonflies and Damselflies are plentiful.
Woodland birds are plentiful, especially Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler and Wood Warbler in summer. Goldcrests are everywhere, as are Treecreepers and Coal Tits. Willow Tit occur especially along the boardwalk though the marsh. Plenty of wintering Thrushes in the adjoining fields near the car park – Redwing and Fieldfare.
On the open land, Stonechat are resident, Whinchat are summer visitors, Tree and Meadow Pipits are found round the lake margins.
